At the market this week:Champion farms will have plenty of heirlooms tomatoes and better boys ripe and green, October shelly beans, white and speckled butter peas, squash, cucumbers, okra, new potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, pumpkins and winter squash. Be sure to check out the red and yellow watermelons, cantaloupes, cucumbers, egg plants, peppers. Scott’s Apples are in and oh so good. Try their delicious apple cider, too.
Also at the market you will find local honey, fresh free range eggs, corn, zucchini, pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colors, as well as homemade breads, cinnamon rolls, pies, ice cream, tea, goat cheese, beautiful fresh cut flowers and much, much more. Mary will be back with lots of delicious MSG-Free Seasoning Mixes. You will want to taste them all.
Dinner to Go from Carrie’s Kitchen: Chicken Tetrazzini with slow simmered Green Beans and Chocolate Cherry Cake. Also available: Carrie’s Famous Green Chili Pimento and Cheese.
Don’t forget to bring your newspapers, card board and plastics. The Boy Scouts are at the Market each week collecting. All proceeds go to Meals on Wheels!
